Chingawaemys Lavrenchenko, Mikula & Bryja, 2021 - Chingawa Forest Rats
Chingawaemys is a monotypic genus, a medium-sized Praomyini rodent currently known only from the Chingawa Forest in south-western Ethiopia. The genus was described from a specimen collected in 2007 and is distinguished by its brownish-grey dorsal fur, contrasting whitish-grey underparts, dark ears and a long, mostly uniformly coloured tail. The feet are relatively short and covered with pale hairs, while the tail is considerably longer than the head and body (Nicolas et al., 2021).
