Description
Family Nesomyidae (pouched rats, climbing mice and fat mice) is an old African family, currently distributed in 68 living species (Goodman & Monadjem 2017) in sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar. Four genera (Saccostomus, Dendromus, Megadendromus, Steatomys) have been reported from Ethiopia (Monadjem et al. 2015).
