Otomys fortior
Description
Otomys fortior Thomas, 1906
Restricted to evergreen forests in the south-western regions of the country, west of the River Omo. It is the only species of Otomys in this region. Specimens from Jimma were assigned to O. fortior based on geographic and ecological proximity, but morphologically this species is characterized by large cranial size making them comparable with O. cheesmani (Taylor et al. 2011). Genetic data are needed from this population.
